Registered Nurses for Learning Disabilities (RNLDs) provide specialist care for people with learning disabilities and often co-occurring mental health conditions. Agency RNLD nurses are in high demand due to a national shortage of qualified practitioners.

What shifts are available?

Assessment and Treatment Units (ATUs) — providing specialist care for people with learning disabilities in crisis

Community Learning Disability Teams — health assessments, annual health checks and care planning

Specialist challenging behaviour services — positive behaviour support and de-escalation

Supported living — complex health needs management within community residential settings

What do you need to register?

Active NMC PIN

Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council registration — verified automatically through Pulse.

Enhanced DBS

An enhanced DBS certificate less than 12 months old. Must include check against barred lists.

Right to Work

Proof of your right to work in the UK — British passport, settled status or valid visa.

How much can you earn?

RNLD shifts command strong rates due to the national shortage — typically £27–£35/hr for days and £32–£42/hr for nights. Specialist ATU and challenging behaviour roles attract premium rates.
