Agency Work for Forensic Psychiatry Nurses

Forensic mental health nursing is one of the most specialist and rewarding areas of psychiatric care. Agency forensic nurses work in medium and low secure units, providing care to patients detained under the Mental Health Act who may pose a risk to others.

What shifts are available?

Medium secure units — structured care for patients with complex forensic histories

Low secure units — rehabilitation-focused care with gradual community reintegration

Prison in-reach teams — mental health assessments and treatment within the prison estate

Community forensic teams — monitoring and supporting patients on conditional discharge
