Community mental health nursing is expanding rapidly as the NHS shifts towards community-first models of care. Agency community mental health nurses enjoy autonomous practice, varied caseloads and the flexibility to choose their working patterns.

What shifts are available?

Community Mental Health Teams — care coordination, CPA reviews and risk assessments

Early Intervention in Psychosis teams — working with first-episode psychosis patients

Recovery teams — supporting long-term recovery and social inclusion

Primary care mental health — working within GP surgeries providing assessment and brief interventions

What do you need to register?

Active NMC PIN

Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council registration — verified automatically through Pulse.

Enhanced DBS

An enhanced DBS certificate less than 12 months old. Must include check against barred lists.

Right to Work

Proof of your right to work in the UK — British passport, settled status or valid visa.

How much can you earn?

Community RMN rates are typically £26–£34/hr. Roles requiring a car and driving licence may attract mileage allowances on top. Band 6 community nurses earn £30–£38/hr.
